We’ve been hearing about snow in other parts of the country, now we can say we have snow too – or did have snow. It is late afternoon and the temperature warmed up enough that a lot of the snow is gone – seems to have stayed in the dirt and mulch in the flowerbeds. The weather people kept saying it was going to snow last night but nothing showed up until about 5 a.m., just as Eddie was ready to go to work. He decided it wasn’t worth dealing with the highways and other drivers – I was very glad he decided not to go. We probably had about 2″ of snow – more than enough for me. I even remembered to take some pictures before it was gone.
I took this out the bathroom window, I wanted to show snow on the leaves before the wind started to blow.
Looking to the right of the window, the lilac tree and on the right, the outside stairs.
This is to the left of the window.
This is straight out the window toward the hedge by the street.
I still was in my nightie and bare feet, so I took the next few from the back door – not quite daylight.
You can see a bit of Eric’s lights across the way – looks more impressive in the dark.
I had trouble taking photos out the window with the flash – so I took a picture of the window to see the view.
The ding room window.
We went out about 10:30 or so – Eddie drove his Volvo.
Not the brightest morning I’ve ever seen.
The log slices looked different with an inch or two of snow.
My little stream looks a little strange.
Another angle.
Looking back to the house – the side walk was slushy and also crunchy.
Part 2 coming in the next post.

We haven’t been getting any snow over here in the UK (yet).

A little here and there is fine, it’s when it dumps on us, it’s a whole different story. A lot of places in the U.S. clear the roads really well – not here so much. Plus we have to deal with hills, not the easiest to maneuver with snow, ice of=r freezing rain.
I’d say you have been getting your share of “weather”, those rainy days with big waves and flooding are no picnic. What part of the U.K. do you live?

I live over in the North of the UK. We haven’t been affected by the heavy rain as much as the South (luckily).

I’m sure you are relieved not to have to deal with all that. How well do they clear roads when it snows?

The busier roads are cleared quite well but the side roads aren’t.

It usually seems harder to get to the main roads because the side roads are not cleared very well. I was in Toronto over christmas – arrived just after an horde ice storm. They do well with the plowing but it is trickier to go on ice. Then it snowed on Christmas on top of the ice – by then they had really gotten the hang of plowing. Makes our little 2″ or so look a bit puny.
